I was one of those people who took a long time to respond to what God wanted me to do with my life.  After working in the corporate world for 13 years, I finally took the steps necessary to become a teacher and started working at WCS – a decision I have never regretted! What a joy it has been to work in a school where God is honoured in everything we do and teach. My husband Steve and I were blessed to watch our two daughters grow physically, academically and spiritually here at WCS prior to their graduations in 2004 and 2010.

After teaching grade 8 for many years and then 5 years as a Special Education Teacher, I was given the privilege of assuming the role of principal in 2016. What a joy this has been for me as I interact with parents, students and staff in a whole new way. I am more aware than ever that this is not my school, or even our school, but it is His school. God has richly blessed WCS for 60 years and it is my prayer that we will continue to honour and serve Him as we teach the children entrusted to us to grow academically, socially and spiritually.

In Grade 1 I decided that teaching was the perfect fit for me. Almost every job or summer mission trip that I took involved working with children. Now I am over 25 years into teaching, I have taught high school and elementary, and I still love it. I have been at W.C.S. as a student, parent, and staff member. All of these experiences have made me thankful for this amazing place.

I love all of the staff, students and family at W.C.S.

Fun Facts:

I love to travel, like to cook, do puzzles, read and like shoes...ok, love them.

I have dreamed of being a teacher for my whole life and, with the exception of the first few years of my children’s lives, I have been doing so since I graduated.

I am so eager to be back in the classroom and be a part of an incredible team of people as we prepare this generation of children to impact their world with their unique God-given gifts and talents.

Fun Facts:

My hobbies include shopping; more specifically, thrift stores, garage sales and extreme couponing. I love a good deal! I also enjoy exploring the parks, pools and playgrounds in our incredible city with my children

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a teacher. I attended a Christian school from JK-12. After it became clear that God was calling me to be involved in Christian education, I listened and have been teaching at a Christian school for the last 6 years. It is during this time that I developed my passion for helping youth to reach their God given potential. He created each person to be amazing and I am incredibly thankful to be a part of their journey.

I feel very privileged and excited to have the opportunity to be joining the WCS family and look forward to growing together in fellowship!

Fun Facts:

Some of the things I enjoy are playing board/card games, travelling, watching cooking show competitions (because the food looks delicious) and building Ikea furniture.

I was born and raised in London, Ontario. After becoming a Christian in university, I moved to the GTA in 1993 to attend seminary following God’s plan. Soon after graduating from seminary, I married the love of my life, Cheryl-Anne, and have been happily married since 1997. I have two children, Leanne and Matthew. We love spending time together watching the Amazing Race, going to Canada’s Wonderland and playing board games. We have settled just north of Toronto in Newmarket and attend a church in Richmond Hill.

I am very excited to join the team at WCS. My favourite subjects to teach are math, Science and Bible. I enjoy challenging students to think outside the box and find new ways to solve problems. I love working with students of all ages and mentoring them as they navigate their walk with Jesus. My desire is to prepare young people for highschool and to help them reach their potential.

Fun Facts:

I am an ordained minister and I served as a pastor for 11 1/2 years in a Chinese church.
I love playing chess, badminton and doing home renovations.
My family and I get season's passes for Canada's Wonderland every year!

Where will our world find leaders with integrity, courage, strength in ten, twenty or thirty years? The answer is that we are teaching them, loving them, and raising them right now. – Barbara Bush.

I am honoured and excited to be teaching your children so that they realize their gifts and will be able to use them in God’s kingdom. I am a teacher who believes whole heartedly that God has a plan for every child. 1 Corinthians 2:9 summarizes my philosophy ofChristian Education: “No mere man has ever seen, heard or imagined what wonderful things God has ready for those who love the Lord. ” I see each child as unique and special. It is in this uniqueness that God has a special place in His kingdom for every child.

As a Christian teacher, I am privileged to share the good news of salvation with my students, everyday by my words and through my actions. I began my teaching career twenty-six years ago, the first seven years were as a classroom teacher (8th, 6th grade). While in this capacity I taught all subjects with an emphasis on physical education and coaching. I thoroughly enjoy coaching soccer and volleyball. Then I took thirteen years off to raise our children and did some supply teaching during this time. Things that excite me about teaching are seeing my students master concepts that were difficult in the beginning and seeing the smiles of my grade one students who come up to the Resource room.

Fun Facts:

My husband, Stephen and I have three wonderful children. Caitlynne, Caleb and Curtis . We also have a cat (Bandit) and a Havanese dog named Brechin (she is named after the town where our cottage is located). We have one child attending college, one at Toronto District Christian Highschool and our youngest is a student here at WCS.
We enjoy skiing/snowboarding, biking, walking, and spending our summers at a cottage.

I was born in South Korea and came to Canada when I was 8 years old. My family and I initially lived in Vancouver and after a few years, we moved to Toronto. My wonderful husband and I have been married just over a year. All in all, I’ve met so many amazing people in my life including some amazing teachers. I aspire to be like the teachers that I remember to this day. I remember their warm smiles (or goofy laughs) and I hope that one day my students will, too.

I’m so excited to join Willowdale Christian School where we get to share God’s love together as a community!

Fun Facts:

I taught English in Korea twice. First time for a month. Second time for almost three years.
I love flowers and succulents. I’m working on having a green thumb.
I’m a proud aunt who’s just a little obsessed with her 5-year-old nephew and 2-year-old niece.

I attended Christian elementary and high schools and was excited to have a career as a Christian teacher as well. Being in an environment where children’s academic, physical, social and spiritual needs are both challenged and met is a privilege.

Watching children discover while they are learning is so rewarding. Nothing is better than seeing the excitement in a child’s face when they have an “Ah-ha!” moment!

Fun Facts:

I enjoy reading, watching TV, camping and travelling.

I recently moved to Toronto with my husband from Calgary, Alberta and am excited to be teaching the Grade 5/6 class at Willowdale Christian School! My passion for teaching began when I started coaching ringette at 16 years old. I have a heart for mentoring and teaching students and love to watch them learn and develop.

What excites me the most about working at Willowdale Christian School is the opportunity to teach students within a supportive community and to openly discuss my faith in the classroom.

Fun Facts:

I am a huge hockey fan (Go Flames!) and love anything to do with fitness or the outdoors. I was a dryland trainer for youth sports teams and worked for four years as a kickboxing instructor.

I was born in Belleville, Ontario and raised in Toronto. I attended Paul B. Smith Academy (aka Peoples) for high school. After Grade 12 I worked in a law firm for 7 years. After that my work experience has varied but one common focus has remained – ministry. I have been employed at Toronto City Mission, SIM International, Melrose Baptist Church, Willowdale Baptist Church, and King Bible Church. I also spent a year as a Dorm Parent in Nigeria. I have a Counseling Certificate from Tyndale College and am currently completing a Certificate of Spiritual Direction under the guidance of Dr. Larry Crabb. I am married to Giulio and we have 3 adult children.

First and foremost, my greatest love at this school is the students! Working in the office is akin to being a grandparent – I have all the fun of “raising the children” but none of the responsibility! I can simply hand out hugs, advice, and band-aids without any concern for their math skills! The WCS staff are incredible and I receive much joy from the sense of community and fellowship. I enjoy the atmosphere in the office because you never really know what is going to transpire on any given day. It keeps me on my toes!

Fun Facts:

I enjoy looking at recipe books (and sometimes I even cook!). I love scary movies and books – psychological thrillers! In-depth Bible study gives me great pleasure. Coffee is my good friend. On January 1, 2013 I made a commitment to post on Facebook each day (for as long as I am able) one thing for which I am thankful to God. So far … I am still going strong!

Ever since I was in elementary school, I wanted to work with children and I am excited to continue living out God’s purpose for me! I graduated from Ryerson University in Early Childhood Education and then went to OISE for my Bachelor of Education. I have worked in various settings such as daycares, learning centres and have taught grade 2 for 8 years. All these experiences have shaped me into the person and teacher I am today! I am excited to be a part of the Willowdale Christian School community and seeing all the wonderful things God will do as we learn and grow together!
