News & Events

Many exciting events happen at WCS. Those events are listed on our school calendar and are announced and explained in our weekly newsletter called The Weekly. Many of those events will also be covered on our Facebook page and may even be featured in other media and publications. There are smaller events like wacky hair day and pajama day and bigger events like science fair and our annual family fun fair.

Update from Mrs. Bernice regarding donations we gave to the students in Haiti.

"Good morning Miriam! Thank you again for the amazing donations for teacher/classroom supplies that your school made to Lagossette Christian School! I was able to deliver them when our team went to Haiti from March 9-16, and they were delighted to receive them. Many of the resources they have never seen before, so our international staff will be holding workshops to teach the teachers how to implement these into their daily lessons. I am so thankful that one teacher looked at me and said, "I don't know what to do with these. Please help." It made me cry. So for now the resources are being stored in our Family Strengthening Director's office, and he will organize workshops for the teachers. I am hoping to go back to Haiti this summer before the new school year begins, and maybe I can also support the teachers in learning about these awesome resources before they begin the new school year.

The school at Lagossette is also closed due to COVID. Right now there are no cases of COVID-19 in Lagossette but all precautions are being taken. However, they cannot do school virtually like WCS. Last week, some of the teachers and staff put together food kits and distributed them to families of students that most needed them. Hopefully we can do this again. For now, having food is more important than learning but I pray that soon the school will again re-open.

Thanks again for your incredible donations!! The money donated to bring the stuff to Haiti was 'just enough' ... 3 extra suitcases at $70 each!!! [WCS provided $200.] God has used you to bless kids so far away in Haiti. Please continue to pray for them!!"

Welcome to the 2019/20 school year!

After a summer of rest and relaxation, we are all looking forward to learning and worshiping God together once again. There are many exciting events planned for the coming months, but watch out for the Terry Fox relay and Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day which come up very quickly in the fall. We welcome 3 new teachers to our staff this year as well as many new families and students. It is exciting to see our school grow as we continue to strive to be a place where education and faith are seamlessly woven together. It is my hope and prayer that our students will grow academically, socially and spiritually this year!
