Welcome to the Willowdale Christian School
website. If you are reading this, you probably have an
interest in Christian education. Perhaps you are a parent
looking for an alternative school for your children. Why do
parents send their children to Christian schools? Often they
cite one of the following reasons:
- a strong academic curriculum
- Bible centered education
- concerns about their current school
- teacher influence
- better friendships
- safety and protection
- integration of faith and life
At Willowdale Christian School the strong relationships
between parents and teachers is of great importance. We
believe that children are “gifts” to their parents-
gifts from God, and that parents are charged to be their
teachers for life. As Christian school teachers we are partners
with parents to extend a child’s formal education,
and support the values taught at home and in church.
Educational research has shown over and over that students
excel academically when parents are integrally involved
in their children’s education. So many of our primary
students love to snuggle up and read with their parents
in the evening. Homework is a high priority in the home.
Parents also volunteer in all sorts of ways at school. They
may be classroom or resource helpers, work in the library,
help individual students, read to a class, or accompany
their children on class trips.
Student agendas, email, parent teacher conferences, the
“Green Sheet” and the “Willowdale Matters”
newsletter support the ongoing communication between the
home and school. Teachers and parents depend on each other
to help direct the overall learning of each child.
Willowdale Christian School is blessed with a qualified
and
talented team of teachers gifted in science, math, reading,
visual arts, special education and gym. These teachers were
hired because of their faith in God, their ability to integrate
this faith into all areas of the curriculum, and their love
for and rapport with children.
My prayer is that God will continue to help us and as we strive
to do God’s will, we will provide a faith filled learning
environment that mirrors God’s love and inspires students
to serve God.
